From The Head Of School
Every morning, I look forward to greeting our children and families as they arrive at school. Since joining Amherst Montessori in 2015, these small moments of connection have remained some of the most meaningful parts of my day.
Each year brings new joys and discoveries—fresh routines, new families, and deepening relationships with those I’ve known for years. No two days at Amherst Montessori are ever the same, and that constant sense of curiosity and energy is what makes our community so special.
As I walk through the hallways, I’m continually inspired by the learning that unfolds in every classroom. In our Infant room, I marvel at the budding skills, curiosity, and care that fill the space. Step into a Toddler room, and you’ll find joyful two-year-olds confidently choosing their work and mastering tasks step by step. In our Children’s House classrooms, three-, four-, and five-year-olds collaborate and explore with our beautiful Montessori materials. And in our Elementary classrooms, children move with purpose—working on the floor, at a table, or kneeling at a workspace—deeply engaged in meaningful, self-directed learning.
The independence, wonder, and joy that our students bring to their work inspire me daily. It’s a true privilege to watch children grow from our Infant program into capable, thoughtful Elementary students. Equally inspiring is our team of dedicated teachers, whose passion and professionalism I am honored to support.
As Head of School, I am guided each day by our mission: to awaken curiosity, nurture growth, and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Every decision we make at Amherst Montessori is grounded in what is best for our students. Through hands-on materials, purposeful work, and a research-based curriculum, our children build the confidence, creativity, and resilience needed to thrive in the 21st century.
I look forward to meeting you and your child, and to welcoming your family into our community. I hope you’ll visit soon to experience firsthand the joyful hum of learning that fills our halls.
Warmest regards,
Kelly Edreich Koblitz
