Programs
At Amherst Montessori, our innovative Montessori programs are aimed at developing a strong sense of independence, confidence and resilience in children, and at fostering a lifelong love of learning. The Montessori curriculum is self-paced and child centric, and our experienced teaching staff support students' exploration and development according to their age and developmental level.
Our school serves children aged 3 months - 6th grade, and our primary programs include the Infant / Toddler (0-3) classroom, the Children’s House (3-6) and our Elementary program (Grades 1-6). Each program features a mixed-aged classroom which allows for learning, leadership and collaboration across age levels.
Teacher Continuity
All of our teachers have undergone extensive training, including substantial training in the Montessori method. Our mixed-age classrooms ensure continuity in your child's education by giving children the opportunity to work with the same teachers in the same classroom for a number of years. This continuity allows teachers to more skillfully guide each child's learning and also creates deeper and more meaningful teacher / student relationships. When you visit our school, you will see children deeply engaged in self-directed learning, a type of learning that nutures childrens' natural instinct for exploration and discovery.
A School Building Designed For Children
Our school building and grounds are meant to nurture joy and deep engagement. Our building was designed in collaboration with Montessori experts and built with children in mind. Classroom spaces have abundant natural lighting and windows are set so that children can see out of them. Engaging learning materials and curricula are designed to capture the interest and imagination of children, nurturing their natural instinct for wonder, exploration, and discovery.
