Children’s House Level Classroom Assistant(s)/After Care Assistant

Amherst Montessori School seeks one or more warm, fun, nurturing, experienced, and mature Classroom Assistant(s) and an After Care Assistants for our Children’s House level, working with children ages 3-6 years old.

This position will spend the first part of the day as an assistant in the Children's House level 10:30 a.m. -3:00 p.m., and the afternoon as an assistant in the Children's House level after care program 3:00 - 5:45 p.m. We are also accepting applications for a Children's House level Classroom Assistant, who will work 8 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. daily. Both positions are considered full time.

Duties include (but not limited to):

  • Prepare the classroom environment in a meticulous and organized way
  • Manage the “flow” of the classroom
  • Support children in their own resolution of conflicts and concerns
  • Be a role model for children in speech, tone, demeanor and actions
  • Serve as a record keeper of the work children are engaged in and children’s social interactions
  • Help set up for nap and lunch
  • Supervise recess and lunch
  • Work with Casa and Children's House lead guides to ensure a safe, comforting, organized, and well-run naptime for children under 5.
  • Support nap
  • Support dismissal
  • Assist with cleaning and disinfecting of classroom and materials
  • Assist with toileting
  • Serve the needs of the children and community

Competitive Salary and Benefits
These positions are contracted and full-time 10 months/year. The Classroom Assistant position has expected hours 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and the Classroom Assistant/After Care Assistant position has expected hours 10:30 a.m. - 5:45 p.m. Summer hours are also available. Pay is hourly and begins at $14.00 and increases based on qualifications and experience. Benefits include a paid lunch break, health, dental, paid holidays, and partial tuition remission for qualified dependents as long as space is available.

Elementary After Care Lead Teacher/Children's House Afternoon Assistant

Amherst Montessori School seeks a fun, creative, energetic, experienced, and mature Elementary After Care Lead & Afternoon Assistant for the Childrne's House Level. This person will work with children ages 3-12 years old.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have previous experience working with children ages 3-12 years old
• Enjoy crafts, games, and/or playing sports and being outdoors with children
• Have a strong initiative and work ethic

Duties:
• Assist Children's House level staff to support children who nap in the afternoon.
• Create and implement daily plan for Elementary After Care, including games, crafts, gardening, etc
• Ensure the safety and physical well-being of each child
• Prepare and clean classroom
• Oversee activities, behaviors and responsibilities of the children
• Supervise snack
• Maintain a clean and safe environment
• Supervise dismissal of children
• Report accidents and injuries
• Develop trusting and mutually respectful relationships with after care families

This position is contracted and part-time 10 months/year. The Elementary After Care Lead position has expected hours 12:45 - 5:45 p.m. starting August 19, 2019 through June 5, 2020 with occasional weekend hours. Summer work is also available.  Pay is hourly and begins at $14.00 and increases based on qualifications and experience. Hours worked as lead are paid at a higher rate. Toddler After Care Assistant

Amherst Montessori School seeks a warm, nurturing, patient, experienced, and mature Toddler After Care Assistant for our Infant/Toddler Level, working with children ages 6 months - 3 years.
