2017 Children's House Summer Discovery Sessions (ages 3 - 6)

IMG 0356Our Children's House program, designed for children ages 3-6, focuses on two-week themes* combining art, music, dramatic play, and pure fun to explore everything from growing climbing vines to building willow branch structures to baking strawberry pie! Eight weeks of summer joy, from Monday, June 12 - Friday, August 4, 2016. Please note that camp is closed on Tuesday, July 4th and will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 4th.

*Families are welcome to sign up for one or both weeks of any theme.

This summer, children will be exploring nature with a focus on gardening. We will garner knowledge of where food comes from and incorporate it into the meals they eat. As always, there will be an emphasis on community, respect, and peace. There will be plentiful sensorial activities through water play and outdoor lessons. We will emphasize the importance of caring for our indoor and outdoor environments. Plan on lots of fun outside and quality crafts! Every two weeks, children will participate in field trips to our wonderful local farms and environmental centers. Every morning there will be an exploration of the theme, and afternoons will include an enrichment activity involving one of the following: Nature, Science, Cooking, Arts and Crafts, or Cooperative Outdoor Games.

Weeks One and Two - June 12 - 23, 2017

Gardening

In this session, we plant seeds, learn how to care for the garden soil, begin the creation of a sunflower maze, and more, as we discuss the fruits and vegetables that help feed us every day.
