Interim Head of School

Amherst Montessori School seeks a skilled leader to serve as Interim Head of School beginning July 1, 2017.  During this cycle an intensive search for a permanent Head of School will be brought underway by the AMS Board of Trustees with comprehensive stakeholder input. We seek an individual whose interest and qualifications for serving as an Interim Head of School will favorably support the School for a leadership transition.

The requirements include but are not limited to proven success in leadership roles, demonstrated fundraising success in the Pioneer Valley, an understanding of the tenets of a core Montessori education, experience and knowledge of business skills and management, excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills, dedication to and love of early childhood and primary school education, ability to provide support in continued faculty development, and the intensive demands of running a small independent school.  Strong organizational and fundraising skills are a must as the school consolidates its position in a 4-year old facility and with expanded programming that now includes infant and young toddler programs, a dual Spanish-English Casa de Niños for 3 – 5 year olds, and a small elementary program with tremendous growth potential.

Toddler Lead Guide

The Lead Toddler Guide will work closely with a teaching team to uphold authentic Montessori principles and create a successful learning environment for each child. The ideal candidate will be passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic about fostering a life-long love of learning and inner purpose, and will demonstrate the following: a strong commitment to the profession and furthering one's professional development; effective organizational and communication skills; excellent classroom management skills and classroom awareness; genuine enjoyment of working with young children; a deep love and understanding of Montessori philosophy, especially the 0-3 curriculum, and an ability to work as a strong team member.

Temporary Infant/Toddler Guide (Maternity Leave coverage)

Amherst Montessori School seeks a temporary EEC Certified Infant/Toddler Lead Guide to cover maternity leave in our Infant class, beginning August 21, 2017. Coverage will continue for duration of maternity leave (anticipated 12-weeks).

The temporary Lead Guide will work closely with a teaching team to create a successful learning environment for each child. The ideal candidate will be passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic about fostering a lifelong love of learning and inner purpose, and will demonstrate the following: a strong commitment to the profession; effective organizational and communication skills; excellent classroom awareness and the ability to communicate with infants through facial expressions and words; genuinely enjoy working with young children; a deep love and understanding of child development birth-three years old, and an ability to work as a strong team member. Montessori experience highly preferred.
